Patrice Rushen Straight From The Heart Straight from the Heart is the seventh studio album by American recording artist Patrice Rushen, released on April 14, 1982, by Elektra Records. It features her most recognizable song, "Forget Me Nots", the oft-sampled "Remind Me" and the popular instrumental workout "Number One". Green Day - Dookie On February 1st 1994, 4 snot nosed punks from the Bay Area released their major label debut and took the world by storm. Green Day were already garnering up a solid reputation and fnbase in the punk underground wth their prior 2 releases for respected label Lookout! Records, but nobody could have warned them as to what was to come. Full of teenage spunk, songs of disillusionment, and the happenings of growing up as a youngster spoke to a new generation in a way that the mainstream's current batch of noisy grunge bands couldn't. You felt like one of the band, you felt like you coud ask your parents for that first guitar and have a go at it. It's what punk is all about right?  The album produced by Rob Cavallo, sounded like it was recorded live in a garage, and gave you the sense of the ennergy bounces from those walls. The album was released on the same day as the first single which was 'Longview', backed by a video of the band sitting around in their home, stoned and playing the song all bunched in together radiating that punk spunk. It caught the imagine of the current days MTV audience, and with the big hooks, great promotional videos, th band literally exploded into becoming one the worlds premier bands. After th anthemic Basket Case, Welcome To Paradise and When I come Around, the band were booked to play Woodstock. This show became nothing short of legendary, and what started an energetic set, quickly turned into the audience semi rioting and mud being slung around through the air. The band were accused of inciting it, and footage shows them even stopping their set to join in and the whole debacle blew up and cemented their punk as fuck attitude even more. Bad press can be good press also, and Green Day became the band to see live. 30 years later this album still talks to a new generation, and surprisingly doesn't sound dated at all.
